One morning in 2011, I woke up to a painful realization as I laid there with my small daughter sleeping next to me and wondering how I’d gotten so far away from the fit guy I was in college. I was lethargic, sleeping poorly, and in the worst shape of my life, both a physically and emotionally. That day I woke up and never looked back! Fitness became a daily pursuit and I would make it happen no matter what it took. Over the course of the next 6 months, I progressed from an out of shape 215 pounds to a much leaner, happier 175 pounds. I was healthier, had more energy, slept better and felt amazing. But that was just the beginning of my journey.

I continued to push myself. I wasn’t just satisfied with being leaner, I wanted to look fit and muscular like so many of the fitness transformations you see everywhere these days. It took a couple years of working out, dieting and learning anything and everything I could find about fitness and building muscle to see the results I was looking for. If only I’d hired a trainer from the beginning! What I had taken so long to learn on my own, was just how important diet is to building muscle, burning fat and maintaining gains. Once I had that down, I began seeing the results I really wanted.

What’s next? I’m planning on competing in a Men’s Physique competition in the fall of 2015. I will be in the best physical shape of my life, and ready to launch into the next phase of my fitness goals.
